A warning of increased drug overdoses in the Treaty #3 Region.
Concerns have been raised that there could be a potential batch of fatal street drugs circulating the area.
Treaty Three Police stress that if you sell opioids to someone and they die, you can face charges of manslaughter or criminal negligence causing death.
Anyone with information regarding the trafficking of illegal street drugs is urged to contact T3PS at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Police also offer tips to drug users:
-Never use drugs alone
-Be careful about dosage size
-Avoid mixing drugs
-Know the signs and symptoms of overdose
-Have a naloxone kit available in case of an overdose
Officials note the Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act protects individuals who are worried about getting into trouble with the law because they have drugs, are violating release or parole conditions.
It can protect you from certain charges if you experience or witness and overdose and call 911 for help.
