I am not taking sides.
But I am saying that I am tired….so very tired of seeing such division and bitterness towards each other on social media when it comes to differences of opinions on COVID, immunization, the trucking industry and so on.
It’s ok to have different thoughts and opinions. It’s NOT ok to call someone a blundering idiot or worse because the other person doesn’t share your same ideals. Keep your mind and expressed thoughts civil on social media and in ‘real life’. Enough with the personal attacks.
Is it not ok if someone disagrees with you? Why attack them personally because they disagree with you? What good does it do?
Do you remember playing ‘tug of war’ in school? Tug Of War is a game but if you think about it there are some tug of war parellels and differences with our lives today.
Your team would try and pull the other team over to your side. It was a fun battle of strength, stamina and will. You stood your ground the best you could. What ever happened you didn’t call the ‘opposition’ derogatory names. You weren’t angry because things didn’t go your way. Maybe you were disappointed but you didn’t take it out on the other side. Most of the time when it was all over it didn’t matter which side had ‘won’. Both teams had done their best to pull the others to their side and we didn’t call each other names during the process. When it was all over win or lose we shook hands, shared some laughs and pats on the back.
We’re all different and have different opinions….and that’s ok. Isn’t it.
Please…..be kind to each other on social media and in person. Is it that hard?
As I close my thoughts here, I proudly interrupt my thoughts and yours with a relaxing picture of my dog Dexter. How about you share and flood social media with his picture? He hasn’t (as far as I know) taken a political side on anything and that’s ok. Maybe he will in the future. I’ll listen to his thoughts and if he does take a side and I disagree with him….that’s ok. I won’t call him names.
Dexter is different than all of us. He likes everyone….no matter what.
Be like Dexter. Or at least try.
