Tragedy in Sandy Lake First Nation.
A fatal house fire is under investigation by Nishnawbe Aski Police Service North West Region Crime Unit.
Officials say the fire started early this morning.
The Ontario Fire Marshall as well as the Ontario Provincial Police Identification Unit are both assisting with the investigation.
More information will be released once it is known and CKDR News has reached out for further comment.
Kiiwetinoong MPP Sol Mamawka issued the following statement:
“Our hearts are broken for the members, families, first responders, and leadership of Sandy Lake First Nation as they grieve the horrific loss of three beautiful children. We are devastated for the family and loved ones mourning these three little ones. Please join me in extending thoughts and prayers to everyone touched by this terrible tragedy.”
Kenora MP Eric Melillo stated:
“On Friday, three children were killed in a house fire in Sandy Lake First Nation. My heart goes out to their families and the entire community as they mourn this unspeakable tragedy.”

Sandy Lake First Nation is located about 600 km northwest of Thunder Bay.
