The federal government says it is providing help to Bearskin Lake First Nation as it battles a COVID-19 outbreak.
At last word, there were 174 positive cases in the remote northern Ontario community of 400 people.
Indigenous Services Minister Patty Hajdu says they have pledged $900,000 in support for the community.
“The funding will provide things like food security, PPE, local community COVID workers, perimeter security, essential supplies, wood cutting, and collections that are needed to heat homes,” Hajdu outlines at a press conference on Tuesday.
Hajdu says since the pandemic started in March of 2020, the federal government has committed 4 million dollars in support for the First Nation.
