The defining factor for an end to the latest COVID restrictions will be hospitalization rates.
There are currently 1,290 people in hospital and 266 individuals in intensive care.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore anticipates a short rapid rise, reaching the maximum by the end of the month.
“That is why these measures are timely. They are proportionate to the risk. They should diminish the burden on the health care system. They should buy us time to be able to increase third doses to prevent hospitalizations.”
Dr. Moore admits the measures will limit the increase in cases, not stop them.
