Premier Doug Ford wants to ensure Ontario’s key priorities are reflected in Tuesday’s fiscal economic statement.
He says municipalities across the province continue to face acute operating pressures and need additional federal support to protect vital public services.
Ford says housing is another important pillar for families and workers but rising costs have the dream of home ownership out of reach for many families.
He says Ontario families and home buyers must take priority, not foreign speculators looking to turn a quick profit.
Ford notes in the coming months, the provincial government is prepared to take action to address foreign speculation in the real estate market and they are counting on the federal government to introduce measures that will complement their approach.
An affordable housing summit is being held Thursday with municipal leaders and Ford is urging the federal government to participate.
Ontario is now the last province not to have an agreement with the federal government for $10 a day daycare and Ford says he is encouraged by the progress the province has made on negotiations and looks forward to reaching an agreement for Ontario families soon.
