The MP for Kenora has been selected to serve on the Natural Resources Committee.
Eric Melillo sat on the Committee during the last session of Parliament, before moving to the Indigenous and Northern Affairs Committee.
He says he’s happy to be back.
Melillo says the sector, particularly forestry and mining, is a major creator of jobs and driver of the economy in northern Ontario.
He notes this is another opportunity to advocate for the interests of those industries and the workers that rely on them.
Melillo adds along with his appointment as Opposition Shadow Minister for FedNor, this role puts him in a strong position to fight for an economic recovery in the region.
He will be joining fellow Conservatives Michelle Rempel Garner, Larry Maguire and Chris Warkentin.
