A three goal second period was the difference as the Dryden GM Ice Dogs skated away with a 5-3 victory in Fort Frances Friday night.
Cameron Ware, Tristan Takats and Derek Koivisto all scored to make it a 4-1 game.
The Lakers battled back in the third but Ware iced the contest with an empty net goal.
Brady Frattinger had a goal and an assist for the Ice Dogs.
Jordan Belley returned from a two game break and stopped 26 shots for the win.
Dryden GM peppered the Fort Frances net with 42 shots.
The same two teams are back on the ice Saturday night.
