Hydro One has opened applications for the Energizing Life Community Fund once again.
Communities and organizations can receive up to 25 thousand dollars for projects that enhance mental or physical health.
“This is our second year running the fund and what we learned through the pandemic is that local organizations really know their communities and they’re really struggling to deliver those critical services,” says Vice President of Communications and Marketing Jay Armitage. “This fund is really for those organizations instead of looking at larger organizations that have been able to survive, we’re really trying to target smaller local organizations that are meeting local needs.”
The Dryden Pool and Fitness Centre was one of five projects to receive funding last year to build an inclusive and accessible change space.
“That makes such an enormous difference for individuals who don’t necessarily want to go in one gender or the other bathroom so, this was such an important initiative in the City of Dryden that we thought it was really important to get behind and support,” explains Armitage. “The role of a community pool is to bring people together and have connection and physical exercise, it’s important that everyone has access to those local services and they can feel safe taking part.”
Armitage adds, “We really do encourage local communities groups local communities, Indigenous communities to apply for one of these 25 thousand dollar grants so we can help them drive positive change within their community.”
