More money from FedNor is flowing to communities in the Kenora riding.
Local MP Eric Melillo has released the latest government statistics on northern Ontario’s economic development program.
Figures show the amount doled out for our region has nearly tripled in the span of a year.
He points out the riding received an average of about 5 per cent of total FedNor funding prior to 2019.
Last year, that rose to 14.55 per cent.
Our share has now reached 21.3 per cent for the current fiscal year.
Melillo is the official opposition shadow minister for FedNor, and he says he keeps a close eye on program spending to ensure that tax dollars are being spent effectively.
He notes, “The Kenora riding has historically been left behind, which is why I’m committed to being a strong voice for our region and fighting to make sure we get our fair share of funding.”
