Two new cases of COVID-19 in our area Tuesday.
There was one new positive in the Kenora region and one in the Dryden/Red Lake reporting area.
Dr. Kit Young Hoon is the Medical Officer of Health with the Northwestern Health Unit and says there are now 16 active cases.
“We have some clusters of cases in the area. One was at a workplace where affected staff have infected some of their household members. Through our investigation there appears to be no increased risk to the public from the affected workplace.”
She notes it’s at a relatively small business in the Kenora area and case, contact, and isolation has occurred with only a small number of employees impacted.
Dr. Young Hoon says of the 16 active cases, most are among those with no or one shot of the vaccine.
The Thunder Bay District recorded 5 new positives today and the active count is now at 33.
St. Martin School is completely closed with 20 cases (last report) associated with the outbreak.
Ontario registered 613 cases.
Health officials say 288 were unvaccinated people, 30 were partially vaccinated, 266 were fully vaccinated and for 29 people the vaccination status was unknown.
