As we head towards the holiday season, Provincial Police are reminding Ontarians to never drive impaired.
OPP have launched their Festive R.I.D.E campaign.
During the campaign, officers will make full use of their expertise, tools and authority to detect and charge impaired drivers.
So far this year, more than 21 thousand calls have been made to the OPP to report suspected impaired drivers.
Solicitor General Sylvia Jones stresses no one should get behind the wheel impaired and if you suspect someone to be impaired, call police.
To date, Provincial Police have responded to two thousand alcohol and or drug related collisions, 29 of which ended in a fatality and many with serious injuries.
OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique says losing a loved one in an impaired driving collision is one of the most preventable tragedies on our roads.
If you plan on drinking or taking drugs, make a plan to get home safely and leave your vehicle at home.
