A perfect time to join the Provincial Police in Dryden.
The OPP are actively recruiting for new members for Dryden alone due to the upcoming amalgamation.
A series of information sessions are being held across the region:
Tuesday, November 16: Fort Frances Detachment at 5:00 pm
Wednesday, November 17: Dryden Detachment at 5:00 pm
Wednesday, November 24: Sioux Lookout Detachment 4:00 pm-7:00 pm
Constable Erin Huckell is the uniform recruiter and says she will be available in all communities throughout the scheduled days if you want to come in and talk before the information sessions.
Huckell says, “Anybody that’s ever been hesitant in the past because they thought they would have to serve in other areas of Ontario, now is the best time to get in and get a position in Dryden.”
She talks about the benefits of becoming a member of the OPP.
“We have tonnes of opportunity. If you wanted to be a pilot. If you wanted to be forensic investigation, underwater search and rescue, we have the TIME team, which is dedicated to traffic.”
Huckell adds, “There’s many things that you can do within the OPP and with the amalgamation going on right now we also have civilian positions available, also within the City of Dryden. We have lot’s of opportunity coming up and if you were thinking of applying now is the time to do it, we have lot’s of opportunity coming up, staying local in Dryden.”
She notes they are also actively hiring auxiliaries.
“Auxiliary is a great way to get into the career. You can come out and do events with the officers. You can ride along. You get trained on the firearms. It’s a volunteer position but it’s an excellent entryway into the OPP.”
