The Dryden Regional Health Centre has announced changes to its medical leadership.
Dr. Stephen Viherjoki has been appointed to Interim Chief of Emergency Services and Dr. Cary Pettinger to Interim Chief of Inpatient Services.
These changes come as Dr. Riaan Bester expressed a desire to step down from Chief of Emergency Services.
“We would like to thank Dr. Bester for all he has done during his time as Chief of Emergency Services to ensure safe, compassionate care for the community,” says Chief Executive Officer and President of DRHC Doreen Armstrong-Ross. “We have the utmost confidence that Dr. Viherjoki and Dr. Pettinger will fulfil the duties of their new roles while upholding our core values and ensuring exceptional patient care to residents of Dryden and the surrounding area.”
Dr. Viherjoki and Dr. Pettinger have both practiced in Dryden for many years, where they have exemplified their professional capabilities and dedication to patients and the community.
Dr. Viherjoki previously served as the Chief of Staff from 2013 through 2019 and most recently as Chief of Inpatient Services since 2019.
These appointments are in effect until June 15, 2022.
