The Dryden GM Ice Dogs ran into a hot goalie Friday night as they dropped a 2-1 decision to the Kam River Fighting Walleye.
Austin Madge made 56 saves to open a two game series between the two teams.
Dryden’s Jordan Belley was equally as good stopping 44 shots.
With the game tied 1-1 late in the third and the Ice Dogs on a power play, Christian Veneruzzo stunned the visiting team with the game winning goal, his second of the season.
Maxime Collette collected his 13th of the season late in the first for Dryden GM.
In Red Lake, home town product Jordan Baranesky continued his red hot play with a pair of goals and an assist as the Miners downed Thunder Bay 5-2.
Ryan Howe, Ryan Hunter and Rylin Philpott-Way also found the back of the net.
Kiev Kineshanko stopped 29 shots for the victory, giving Red Lake points in their last 9 games.
In the third SIJHL game of the night, Wisconsin knocked off Thief River Falls 3-1 to improve to 4-8-1.
