A reminder from the Dryden Fire Service to not fall behind on carbon monoxide safety.
Chief Chris Wood stresses CO is an odourless, tasteless gas that can cause serious injury and death.
Wood says make sure fuel-burning appliances and vents in your home are inspected every year by a qualified contractor.
He adds never use barbeques, portable fuel-burning appliances and generators inside your home or garage.
Wood says full functioning CO alarms should be installed adjacent to all rooms in all levels of your home.
In 2020 the Dryden Fire Service responded to 12 carbon monoxide calls and this year they have already responded to 13.
Wood says they have launched a social media campaign and his team is always spreading the word about carbon monoxide safety.
This is Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week in Ontario and is honour of the Hawkins Family who were tragically killed by carbon monoxide poisoning in their home in Woodstock.
