A 23 year old man is in custody following a lengthy standoff in downtown Dryden.
The incident happened Monday afternoon around 1 o’clock after City Police received a complaint of a disturbance at a residence in the Queen Street and Earl Avenue area.
Police say the individual had barricaded himself in his suite and was causing extensive damage to the premises.
Due to the nature of the weapons the man had in his possession and his unwillingness to comply with police, the situation was treated as an armed and barricaded event.
The Ontario Provincial Police Emergency Response Team was activated and the man was taken into custody shortly after 8:30 last night.
There were no injuries.
