Local municipalities now know how much they will be receiving under the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund.
This is the province’s main general assistance program and total investment for 2022 in Kenora-Rainy River is over $13.8 million.
The City of Dryden is receiving $2,145,500, down slightly from $2,252,400 in 2021.
The government says municipal partners have stressed the importance of stability and predictability, particularly during these uncertain times and Ontario is responding by maintaining both the structure of the program and its total funding envelope of 500 million province-wide for next year.
Association of Municipalities of Ontario President Graydon Smith says predictable and timely financial support from the province is essential for budget planning in small and rural municipalities.
Kenora-Rainy River MPP Greg Rickford unveiled the funding allocations this week:
Sioux Lookout: $1,495,100
Ignace: $904,000
Red Lake: $835,500
Ear Falls: $455,400
Machin: $316,400
