The Kenora and District Chamber of Commerce has received $100,000 to launch a new ‘Choose Local First’ campaign.
The initiative was made possible through the funding support of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and the Government of Canada and collaboration with the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce.
It will be rolled out in Dryden, Red Lake, Ear Falls, Sioux Lookout, Kenora, Fort Frances and Sioux Narrows.
President Andy Scribilo says the campaign is designed to help local businesses in the recovery of the pandemic and will bring awareness to the impact of shopping local; keeping the dollars in the community, strengthening the tax base, providing jobs and supporting the local community initiatives and events.
He says several local businesses will be highlighted through radio, digital, social media and newspaper advertising.
Scribilo stresses, “We are asking the public to take notice and rethink your shopping habits as these businesses are cornerstones of our local economies and a key to keeping our communities thriving.”
More details on the program are expected to be unveiled next week.
