If you have not received your first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, the Ontario Ministry of Health will be trying to get in touch.
Everyone that is unvaccinated with an Ontario health card number will be receiving calls, with the goal of helping answer questions and ensuring everyone is aware of how to get their shots.
The Northwestern Health Unit (NWHU) is letting the public know these calls are legitimate, and urges everyone who gets one to use it as an opportunity for education.
Large clinics are being added to NWHU’s booking site to ensure there are appointments available for anyone who wants their COVID-19 vaccine.
The region currently has a one dose vaccination coverage rate of 87.8 per cent for those 12 and older, with 81.3 per cent of this group being fully vaccinated.
In addition to the phone calls being made, there are also other opportunities to get COVID-19 vaccine questions answered by a medical professional. The following consult services are available to residents in the area:
- SickKids – Vaccine consult service for children, youth, and their families
- VaxFacts – A doctor from Scarborough Health Network will answer your questions about the vaccine
Over 125,000 shots have been given in the region.
At the time of this announcement, the Thunder Bay District Health Unit had only one active case of the virus.
