The MP for Kenora is echoing comments made by Erin O’Toole that the Conservative caucus is fully united.
Eric Melillo was in Ottawa this week for the first caucus meetings since the federal election loss.
Despite MP’s voting to give themselves the power to possibly change up their leadership, Melillo says conversations were constructive.
“There wasn’t much of a leadership conversation, our caucus supports Erin and supports moving forward to get to work for Canadians and ensure that we’re getting ready for the next election. Obviously, we have to have a review of where the election went wrong and how we can improve for next time.”
Melillo adds a leadership review is nothing more than a distraction right now and the caucus is focused on one thing and one thing only.
“It’s about getting to work and what we need to do to prioritize an economic recovery to ensure that we’re getting people back to work and supporting our economic recovery and move on from COVID. There’s a lot of work to do and that’s why we’re eager to get back to parliament as soon as possible.”
