The MPP for the Kiiwetinoong Riding says Monday’s Throne Speech was disappointing.
Sol Mamakwa says while the Ford Government touted what it has done during the pandemic, it didn’t indicate what it’s planning to do for the next eight months before the next provincial election.
“I did not hear anything, no mention of things that are important to people in the north such as education, affordable housing, and the environment,” says Mamakwa.
“The Throne Speech could have helped people but by announcing nothing new whatsoever to help patients, students, workers, or even small businesses, I think Doug Ford made it clear again, especially in the north, he’s not here for us.”
Mamakwa says while the Throne Speech talked about engagement and true partnership with indigenous people, action is needed to implement the 94 recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
