A long standing Dryden event is back after a year hiatus.
The 43rd Artists and Handcrafter’s Holiday Market is on this weekend at Eagle’s Landing.
“This year has been very challenging to organize, with the changing regulations and uncertainty everywhere,” says Organizer and local artist Nancy Fumerton, who was a guest at the Rotary Club of Dryden’s virtual meeting Wednesday. “Last year it was cancelled, along with many other things due to COVID-19. The artisans and crafters participating in it this year are so happy to again have a way to show what they have been pouring their hearts into. The public also seems very excited to have a place to come appreciate fine crafts.”
There will be thousands of locally made and crafted items for sale as Fumerton explains, the market gives the community an economic boost drawing in crafters and shoppers from across the region.
“But more than anything, the Dryden handcrafter market is a Dryden tradition. People who came as a kid with their grandparents or parents are now bringing their own children or grandchildren. Friends can get together to enjoy marvelous creations by local and regional artisans, as well as spending part of the day together.”
With the market starting tonight, Fumerton says they still need more volunteers.
“We need many more volunteers this year due to having to check vaccine status for all attendees, as well as aisle cruising reminding people to physically distance and counters for people in and out. I need a few for the 5-7pm time slot Friday and also for Saturday 10am-1pm.”
To volunteer you can email ahcmarket@hotmail.com.
The market opens tonight (Friday) 5-9pm and Saturday 10am-4pm and proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required.
Entry admission is by donation to the Dryden Food Bank.
