If you’ve been worrying your child may lose their ID when showing their COVID-19 vaccine passport, the province is trying to make things a little easier.
Ontario is now allowing youth aged 12 to 17 to show a photocopy or photo of their ID instead of the original alongside their proof of vaccination.
This only applies to youth, and all other age groups still need to show your original government-issue ID such as a driver’s license, citizenship card, birth certificate, passport, Status Card, health card, or permanent resident card.
Starting October 22nd, you won’t have to show ID if you download the province’s proof of vaccination app.
