Carol Willis
February 6, 1947 – September 26, 2021
In loving memory of Carol Willis (King) who passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021 with family by her side at the Dryden regional Health Centre. She was 74 years old.
Mom was born on February 6, 1947 to Allen and Gwen King in Emo, Ontario and was one of six girls. She was so proud to be one of the “King girls” and treasured a special bond with her sisters.
Carol is survived by her daughter Taryl (Ken) Bougie, Barrie, ON, son David Willis, husband Russell Willis and granddaughter Ella who stole her heart; sisters June (Ron) Desserre, Doreen (Glen) Wrolstad as well as many other family members. Mom had many nieces and nephews that she cherished dearly.
Mom was predeceased by her parents Allen and Gwen King, sisters Beverly Hyatt, Marlene Gouliquer and Elaine Desserre.
Mom was raised in Stratton, ON on the family farm and moved to Dryden, ON in her 20’s to be closer to her sisters who always supported her through life’s joys and challenges.
Mom worked at McLeod’s department store in her younger years until her health issues no longer allowed her too. Although this was hard for Mom, it meant she was home for her children after school, going to sporting events and always supporting any way she could.
Mom loved her family so much and to her family was everything. She had a great memory for details and was the “keeper” of dates for births, deaths and special occasions to which were all recorded in her personal family history book. This was no small task with over 19 nieces and nephews and their growing families. Mom was proud of this job and loved when family would call to ask her about these special occasions.
In younger years, Mom loved camping, visiting family and volunteering at the fall fair among other adventures.
As her health needs became greater, she moved to Princess Court where she tried her best. She embraced new technology to keep in touch with family and looked forward to facetime visits, facebook gossip and phone calls. Although life was difficult, Mom tried her best and was grateful for all that showed her love and compassion.
A Private Family gathering will be held in her honour.
