It could be considered one of the most important games in the 20 year history of the Superior International Junior Hockey League.
Saturday marks the first-ever Truth and Reconciliation game in Canada.
The evening is being hosted by the Dryden GM Ice Dogs as part of a strategy to make Truth and Reconciliation a priority.
The Little Feather Drummers will open the special ceremony at 7:35 pm local time.
It will feature speeches from Eagle Lake Chief Arnold Gardner, Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation Chief Clayton Wetelainen, Dryden Mayor Greg Wilson as well as SIJHL Commissioner Darrin Nicholas.
The special guest speakers are former NHLers and Stanley Cup winners Reggie and Jamie Leach, who will share their stories.
The Ice Dogs will also honour former Indigenous players from the area.
On the ice, Dryden GM takes on the Thunder Bay North Stars.
The team will be wearing one-time only special Orange jerseys for the game, with proceeds of the sale of those jersey’s after the game supporting Residential School Survivors.
