Work on a major “Downtown Revitalization” project is underway in Wabigoon.
The first thing you will notice is a beautiful 115-foot mural facing Highway 17 on the Memorial Hall grounds.
The impressive and eye-catching piece of artwork depicts the Village over 100 years ago.
It was a volunteer effort with Cheryl Parenteau coming up with the design and the Local Services Board in charge of follow up and logistics to make everything happen.
The LSB worked with the Nuclear Waste Management Organization to have them fund this project 100%.
In addition, the Services Board has contracted a local electrical company to remove and properly replace the Hall light post and it will be equipped with new LED lights.
The end goal is constructing a modern Pavilion on the community site.
