There is some local representation on the Kenora Under-18 ‘AAA’ Thistles this season.
Dryden’s Peter Zilkalns and Brandon Gustafson as well as Red Lake’s Ben Norlock and Dylan Marino of Sioux Lookout will suit up.
Head Coach Scott Parsons loves the make-up of this years team.
“I feel like we’re truly an entirely northwestern Ontario team now at this point. We have players all the way from Nipigon to Kenora here. You got guys from Dryden. You got guys from Fort Frances. We’re pretty well covered all over (the region).”
Parsons adds the team has a good mix of skill and size.
“We’re a little bit smaller on defence than we were last year, but I feel like our mobility on the back end is going to help us a lot. I really like our forward group this year. I feel like we have really good depth throughout all four lines.”
Parsons believes that their top-end offensive skill will make a big difference on the scoresheet.
The Thistles open the season at home Saturday and Sunday against Brandon.
