Elections Canada reminds you to be eligible to vote, you need to be registered.
Most of the estimated 27 million voters are already signed-up.
Spokesperson Rejean Grenier says checking their website will confirm your presence on the voters list.
“You put your address in and it matches our registry, it will tell you right off the bat you are registered. If not, it then tells you the next steps that you have to do.”
Grenier says their registration list is compiled by information you provided to various government agencies, including income tax returns, that is passed on to Elections Canada.
Once registered, you can vote anytime by next Tuesday by special ballot at the local returning office or during advanced polls coming up this weekend.
Election day is September 20.
