It will be a busy couple of days for the Dryden GM Ice Dogs.
Main camp is being held the next three days at the Memorial Arena.
The will be full-day sessions on and off the ice as well as separate goalies only evaluation.
Head Coach and General Manager Kurt Walsten is anticipating a highly spirited session.
“When you are here competing, you are competing for a spot, you are competing for wearing the Ice Dogs jersey. What you did last year for the players coming back means absolutely nothing. If an 18 year old out works a 20 year old, the 18 will eat up that ice time.”
Walsten says the talent pool is deep this year.
“Especially up front this year. You know we’ve been turning away a few guys here in the last week that are good hockey players but we try to stay loyal to the guys that are coming here and right now on paper we’re very happy with the core we got coming back.”
Walsten adds, “We’ve done some good recruiting here this summer where we have some good players coming in here that will be first year players but I am sure some of them are going to be fan favourites.”
The Blue and White game is Sunday at 10:30 am and is open to the public.
Admission is $5.
