New COVID-19 vaccine rules are now in place in Manitoba.
Doctor Brent Roussin is the Chief Provincial Public Health Officer and tells us just some of the places you’ll need to be fully vaccinated to go.
“Indoor and outdoor ticketed sporting events and concerts, indoor theatre, dance and symphony events,” says Doctor Roussin, “Restaurants both indoor and outdoor, nightclubs and all other licensed establishments, casinos, bingo halls, VLT lounges (and) movie theatres.”
The full list of what you need to be fully vaccinated to do can be found by clicking here.
He goes on to explain that they’re trying to prevent more lockdowns.
“We wanted to do whatever we can to avoid further lockdowns and ensuring that only fully vaccinated people take part in some of these higher-risk activities is one such method of doing that.”
Doctor Roussin says the new requirements are meant to protect the unvaccinated.
“The great majority of new cases are unvaccinated, and these numbers are even higher when we look at (COVID-19-related) ICU admissions.”
He adds that children under 11 who cannot be immunized are exempt from the requirements as long as they’re accompanied by a fully immunized adult.
The new rules, which were announced on August 27, came into effect Friday at 12:01 am CST
