A grassroots effort is underway to provide more opportunities for youth in the Machin area.
During the recent release of a draft Community Safety and Well-Being Plan, Councillor Ron Kujansuu asked about the possibility of bringing some youth programming from Dryden to their community.
“Vermilion Bay. We’ve got lots of space but not for seven days a week. It’s only being used two to three days a week.”
Kujansuu says, “Somebody else could come in, like the Youth Centre, and maybe have it available to them for a day or two. Good example is Eagle River Rec. Centre. It’s quite quiet.”
The Youth Committee says it will look at the idea and explore other potential options.
The Community Safety and Well-Being plan has been approved by both Dryden and Machin Councils.
