A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Ignace and Sioux Lookout areas.
A watch remains in place for Dryden and Vermilion Bay areas.
Environment Canada says thunderstorms are expected to develop over the next few hours and will become more widespread through the afternoon.
Meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts and up to toonie size hail.
This line of severe thunderstorms is located from southeast of Lost Lake to 11 kilometres northeast of Long Lake, moving northeast at 45 km/h.
Large hail is the main threat, although wind gusts up to 100 km/h cannot be ruled out.
The severe weather threat will move into Minnesota this evening.
