The premier isn’t ready to declare a State of Emergency for northwestern Ontario due to raging forest fires.
Doug Ford is responding to a recent update that more than 3,000 from five First Nation communities have been evacuated.
“We’re throwing every single resource we have up there and I want to thank the federal government for putting resources as well. I’m on a daily call with Minister Rickford getting briefed. I’ve talked to Chiefs up there. I’ve also talked to Mayors.”
Ford adds, “I’m heading up there Wednesday to the Command Centre in Thunder Bay. But anything they need, they’re going to get. I will spare no expense and we’ll make sure that the resources will always continue until we get these fires under control.”
