The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is prioritizing multiple new forest fire starts in the Red Lake District.
On Monday alone there were 14 new blazes in the Red Lake District and as of this afternoon that’s increased to 19.
New starts are a result of recent lightening strikes throughout the region.
In their update this afternoon, the Municipality of Red Lake says an evacuation is once again not an immediate concern but officials are staying on high alert should things change.
There’s also a glimmer of hope as Municipal officials say weather and wind conditions for the next two days look to be in the area’s favour.
Multiple MNRF crews and air support are dedicated to containing and controlling these new fires.
If daily conditions change and or worsen, the Municipality and CKDR will provide further information outside of our daily 3pm updates.
