Expect smoke to linger across the region once again Tuesday.
A majority of the area was under a cloud of smoke for most of the day Monday due to active forest fires in northwestern Ontario and eastern Manitoba.
It’s again prompted air quality alerts.
Those most sensitive to smoke, such as people with lung disease, asthma or heart disease, children and older adults, should limit prolonged or heavy activity.
Individuals may experience symptoms such as increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches or shortness of breath.
It’s expected the smoke will drift away later Wednesday with a shift in the wind, but could return the following day.
The smoke is being being felt as far away as southern Ontario.
