Thunderstorms and lightning Monday helped spark 18 new forest fires across the northwest region.
Ten were in the Red Lake district, six started in the Sioux Lookout region, while Fort Frances and Nipigon each recorded one.
There are now 111 active fires in the region and 37 are considered not under control.
There was some good news for fire crews.
Deer Lake First Nation and Poplar Hill First Nation both saw significant rainfall.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says that has helped reduce the behaviour of both fires.
