There are now three significant forest fires causing concern in the Red Lake District.
Kenora Fire 51 to the Southwest of Red Lake is not under control listed at 114, 323 hectares in size, Red Lake Fire 77 to the West is not under control listed at 23, 404.9 hectares in size and Red Lake Fire 16 to the North is being observed at 120, 786.7 hectares in size.
In their update this afternoon the Municipality of Red Lake says while these fires don’t pose an immediate threat to the community today, they remain cautious should things change quickly.
Residents are asked to stay prepared as Municipal officials stress an evacuation is still likely until there’s significant rain fall.
The Municipality adds they have daily emergency control meetings with community partners and receive two daily updates from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, including fire projections and weather forecasts.
Officials say they have full confidence in the expertise and efforts of the MNRF.
If daily conditions change and or worsen, the Municipality and CKDR will provide further information outside of daily 3pm updates.
