Canadian Blood Services has issued an urgent appeal for blood donations as most surgical procedures resume following COVID restrictions.
Reports indicate there are more than 23,000 blood donors needed by July 31 in Ontario alone.
For local residents, the closest donation site is in Winnipeg.
CBS says while all blood types are welcome, there is a specific need for donors with O-negative, which is commonly known as the “universal donor.”
This is also an important time as more people hit the road, with the potential of more serious collisions.
You can also help out by joining the national stem cell registry, registering your intent to become an organ and tissue donor or making a financial donation.
