An extreme heat warning has been issued for the entire region the weekend.
Extreme heat has started this afternoon and expected to continue through Sunday.
Highs will reach 29 to 31 degrees Celsius with humidex values in the low to mid thirties, with lows near 18 degrees Celsius.
A cold front will move southward across the region Sunday, bringing relief from the heat.
Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle and reduce your heat risk by doing outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day.
The risks are greater for young children, pregnant people, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.
Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can cause the Air Quality Health Index to approach the high risk category.
