The Nuclear Waste Management Organization is starting to ramp up public engagement as COVID restrictions begin to ease.
The group has its Mobile Learn More Centre in Sioux Lookout today. (Wednesday)
The Centre will open from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Travel Information Centre.
NWMO spokesperson Vince Ponka says this is your chance to learn more about used nuclear fuel and their plan to establish an underground repository in either the Ignace area or southern Ontario.
Ponka says there will be interactive displays and models and staff will be on hand to answer any questions.
He notes the Sioux Lookout visit is part of an on-going regional tour.
“Visit a total of almost 21 communities, including several Indigenous communities, and that’s really exciting as well. We just want to make sure that the entire region has a strong understanding of this project.”
The Mobile Learn More Centre will be in Kenora Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
