The province has issued an Emergency Area Order for all of Northwestern Ontario.
With 79 forest fires burning, high temperatures, dry conditions and frequent thunderstorms, fire crews are stretched to the limit.
The order will allow the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry to take special measures to ensure the safety of people and the protection of critical property.
Minister in charge Greg Rickford says he’s monitoring the situation closely and the government is doing everything it can to protect communities and property in the area.
A reminder an outdoor fire ban is in effect.
