A Special Air Quality Statement has been expanded to cover most of the region.
Forest fire smoke from active fires in northwestern Ontario and eastern Manitoba is causing poor air quality and reducing visibility in the Red Lake, Ear Falls, Kenora, Sioux Lookout and now Dryden districts.
Individuals may experience symptoms such as increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches or shortness of breath.
Children, seniors, and those with cardiovascular or lung disease, such as asthma, are especially at risk.
