The City of Dryden is acting as a Transportation Hub in forest fire evacuation efforts across the region.
The municipal team is working with Loomex Group to offer third party evacuation services and coordinate efforts at the Dryden Regional Airport.
The team started moving flights from Deer Lake through the hub Monday afternoon and into the evening.
The evacuees were destined for Ottawa and Kapuskasing.
Chief Administrative Officer Roger Nesbitt says the City may be helping with some other evacuation services as things ramp up.
However, Nesbitt notes commercial lodging is at a minimum right now but stresses they are checking availability almost daily.
