Premier Doug Ford is promising to make a $3 emergency pay increase for Personal Support Workers permanent.
Ford says they introduced the hike in the middle of the pandemic.
“So, we’re the first government to come along and say that they deserve more money. I’ve said it publically. We gave them a $3 an hour bump in pay. We’re going to make sure we make that 100%. I know it was temporary.”
Ford adds, “There going to have a $3 increase in pay. I’ve always said PSW’s are overworked and underpaid. They deserve every single penny times ten. So, we’re going to keep that in place, the $3 an hour pay for them. It’s a guarantee we’re going to do it.”
Ford stresses he’s grateful for the tireless work PSW’s do.
