Ontario’s Education Minister says all signs are pointing to in-class learning this September.
Stephen Lecce says he’s been working closely with the Medical Officer of Health and the plan is for a return to the classroom.
“With low cases in the community, we know absolutely we’re going to be able to return kids back to class. The Chief Medical Officer of Health is working now on the final guidance on what we can do to maintain the safety of schools.”
Lecce believes an official announcement could come within the next two weeks.
He notes says the province will present its plan to parents, “with the intention of restoring extra-curricular’s, sports, clubs and a more social, interactive, yet continuing to be safe learning experience.”
Lecce says, “The fact that vaccine rates are rising, obviously aggressively, 46% plus of the Ontario population double vaccinated, over 78% has a single dose. This gives us an incredible sense of confidence.”
