The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is dealing with 53 active fires across the northwest.
Twelve are considered not under control.
There were six new starts Sunday, four in the Thunder Bay and Nipigon districts, one northwest of Red Lake and one southeast of Atikokan.
There was a small blaze near Sabourin River in Woodland Caribou Provincial Park.
Another five hectare blaze ignited in Quetico Provincial Park near Sark Lake.
The fire hazard is mainly high to extreme with the exception of the southwest corner of the region in some parts of the Kenora, Fort Frances and Dryden sectors.
A large forest fire in the Eagle/Snowshoe/Woodland Caribou Provincial Parks continues to cause grief for local fire crews.
Kenora 51 has been remapped to a size of 22,252 hectares.
The blaze continues to expand its boundaries thanks to strong fire behaviour and extreme conditions in the area.
The Ministry says an Incident Management Team is en route to the area to manage operations on the fire.
Crews also continue work on stubborn fire about 3 kilometres northwest of Naicatchewenin First Nation in the Fort Frances district.
The blaze remains out of control at 407 hectares in size.
Over 20 crews continue to work on the fire as fresh crews are cycled in to replace those going on days off.
Officials say infrared scanning of the fire area began Sunday.
