Evolution Mining in Red Lake is celebrating the LGBTQ2Q+ community.
With the permission of the Municipality, Evolution employees have painted a giant rainbow crosswalk that can’t be missed.
Company officials say they didn’t just add a pop of colour, but also a dash of hope and acceptance into the community.
The focus is on the word ally as Evolution notes an ally is an individual who speaks out and stands up by supporting and advocating for people who are stigmatized, discriminated against or treated unfairly.
Mayor Fred Mota says, “Red Lake is a community that is supportive of diversity and inclusion and the rainbow crosswalk will serve as a visual reminder of this sentiment for years to come.”
Mine General Manager Kirsty Liddicoat says respect is a key value at Evolution and their are pleased to work with the municipality to show their support for a diverse and inclusive community.
