Provincial Police are reminding motorists of new rules that are now in place.
The Highway Traffic Act has been modified to increase vehicle impoundment penalties for individuals charged with stunt driving as well as decreasing the speed threshold for street racing.
Anyone charged with the offence now faces an increase impoundment penalty of 14 days, up from 7 days, as well as a 7-day license suspension.
The speed threshold for stunt driving on roads with a posted speed limit below 80 km/hr has been dropped.
Drivers caught travelling 40 km/hr or more above the posted speed limit can now face racing charges.
Roads with a posted speed limit of 80 km/hr or higher maintain the current threshold of travelling 50 km/hr or more above the speed limit.
The changes came into place on Canada Day.
