The former chief of the Dryden Fire Service is now ready to lead the Kenora Fire Department.
Kent Redman has been on the job for just over a week.
He says it’s a bit different going to a larger fire department.
“I think there’s always immediate challenges,” reflects Readman.
“The bigger the municipality, there always some added challenges or differences. I think a learning process as we go through things.”
Readman adds there are some differences coming to a large fire department with more full-time firefighters.
“You know different staffing models, different operations, different types and volumes of calls throughout the year. Yeah, there are definitely some differences as municipalities get larger.”
Originally from Southern Ontario, Chief Readman has worked throughout Canada, including Marathon, in the last 19 years,
Erik Campbell has taken over as interim Chief for the City of Dryden.
